Custom Watch: “Day Glow Field”

I suppose this is the opposite of a “tactical field watch.”

I had a day-glow orange strap from Timex that I never thought I’d use, but it made sense once I picked the bright orange seconds hand. I was also lucky that the brushed black PVD caseback perfectly matched the case.

The dial’s typography, graphics, and printing are good, but both the dial and hands (hour and minute) have poor lume. I’d like to update the dial when I find a good option with a day and date window.

A handset with a shorter hour hand would be a better fit; I may trim the current hour hand’s point.

Build Notes

Lume on the dial and minute & hour hands is poor! The seconds hand’s lume is acceptable on it’s own. Together, the lume is poorly matched.

The second hand isn’t as bright as the strap, but it’s well-matched. This photo was taken by an iPhone 16 Pro in natural light.
